Sammle deine Vorräte
Färben Garn mit Kool-Aid ist eine gute Möglichkeit, um zu lernen, wie man Garn garnieren. Es ist ziemlich schnell und einfach und erfordert keine speziellen Werkzeuge oder Ausrüstung. Da nur Kool-Aid verwendet wird, können Sie sogar einen normalen Topf oder eine Pfanne benutzen, die Sie zum Kochen verwenden, anstatt alle neuen Utensilien und Töpfe zu kaufen.
Um mit Kool-Aid zu färben, musst du ein paar Vorräte sammeln:
- eine Unze Wollgarn, zu einem Strang gewickelt, an mindestens vier Stellen mit Acrylgarn lose gebunden
- ein Paket Kool-Aid, Geschmack deiner Wahl (ich habe Orange verwendet)
- Wollwäsche oder flüssige Spülmittel
- ein Topf oder eine Pfanne, die groß genug ist, um zu deinem Garn zu passen, vorzugsweise mit einem Deckel (ich habe ein großes Stück Aluminiumfolie benutzt, um meine zu bedecken)
- Wasser und ein Waschbecken
Natürlich können Sie mehr als eine Unze Garn auf einmal färben, aber mit einer kleinen Menge anzufangen ist eine gute Idee, während Sie lernen. Das Verhältnis von einem Paket Kool-Aid zu einer Unze Garn sollte unabhängig davon, wie viel Garn Sie färben, beibehalten werden, obwohl Sie mehr Pulver hinzufügen können, um eine reichere Farbe zu erhalten, weniger für eine hellere Farbe.

Das Garn vorbereiten
Um das Garn bereit zu machen, den Kool-Aid Farbstoff aufzunehmen, müssen Sie ein wenig vorbereiten. Wie in Schritt eins erwähnt, wollen Sie, dass Ihr Garn in Form eines Strangs vorliegt, der lose mit Acrylgarn verbunden ist (das den Farbstoff selbst nicht aufnimmt).
Das Garn muss auch vollständig nass und sauber sein, um den Farbstoff gleichmäßig aufzunehmen. Um dies zu erreichen, füllen Sie die Spüle mit lauwarmem Wasser und ein wenig (vielleicht ein Teelöffel) Wolle waschen Sie einfach alte flüssige Geschirrspülmittel.
Lassen Sie das Garn mindestens eine halbe Stunde stehen, lassen Sie dann das Waschbecken ab, spülen Sie das Garn mit der gleichen Wassertemperatur ab, in der es getränkt wurde, und drücken Sie vorsichtig, um sicherzustellen, dass sich die gesamte Seife nicht mehr in den Fasern befindet.

Vorbereitung des Kool-Aid Färbebades
Nun, da das Garn fertig ist, bereiten Sie den Farbstoff vor, indem Sie ihn in lauwarmes Wasser füllen. Lösen Sie den Kool-Aid durch gründliches Rühren ins Wasser (denken Sie daran, dass kein Zucker benötigt wird!). Dein Haus wird jetzt stark nach Kool-Aid riechen und wenn das Wasser heizt, öffne ein paar Fenster, wenn du kannst.
Die Menge an Wasser, die Sie verwenden, ist nicht so wichtig, solange es das Garn, das Sie färben, bedeckt.

Beginn des Färbeprozesses
Legen Sie Ihr Garn in das Färbebad und achten Sie darauf, dass das Garn vollständig bedeckt ist (falls erforderlich, mehr Wasser hinzufügen).
Schalten Sie die Hitze auf Medium und lassen Sie das Wasser fast bis zum Sieden aufsteigen. Es beginnt zu dampfen und kleine Blasen zu bilden - so wirst du wissen, dass es fertig ist.
Wenn die Temperatur ansteigt, können Sie das Garn vorsichtig ein wenig rühren und Sie werden bemerken, dass das Garn bereits beginnt, die Farbe aufzunehmen.

Finishing the Dye Job
Wenn das Wasser auf Temperatur ist, schalten Sie die Hitze aus, aber lassen Sie die Pfanne auf dem warmen Brenner. Decken Sie die Pfanne mit einem Deckel oder einem großen Stück Aluminiumfolie ab.
Das Garn muss etwa eine halbe Stunde sitzen - vielleicht länger. Du wirst wissen, dass es fertig ist, wenn die ganze Farbe aus dem Wasser entfernt wurde und sich auf dem Garn abgelagert hat. Rühren Sie das Garn ein paar Mal während des Prozesses, um sicherzustellen, dass alle Fasern Farbe bekommen.
Wenn das Wasser klar ist, den Topf freilegen, vom heißen Brenner nehmen und abkühlen lassen.

Trocknen und Verwenden Ihres Kool-Aid gefärbten Garns
Lassen Sie den Topf 20 oder 30 Minuten abkühlen und lassen Sie dann das Wasser ablaufen. Spülen Sie das Garn in Wasser mit der gleichen Temperatur wie das Wasser im Topf (selbst kaltes Wasser kann Wolle fühlen, wenn es warm ist). Lassen Sie es etwas in der Spüle abtropfen und wischen Sie das überschüssige Wasser vorsichtig aus.
Um es noch trockener zu machen, wickeln Sie das Garn in ein altes Handtuch und drücken Sie die überschüssige Flüssigkeit aus den Fasern. Sie können das Garn flach trocknen lassen oder es von einem Kleiderbügel hängen und es in der Dusche trocknen lassen, falls es weiter tropft.
Sobald das Garn vollständig trocken ist, können Sie den Hank zu einem Ball wickeln und so stricken, wie Sie es normalerweise tun würden.
Kool-Aid-gefärbte Garne sind relativ farbecht, aber ich habe festgestellt, dass, wenn Sie mit ihnen auf Bambus oder leichten Holznadeln stricken, Sie vielleicht ein wenig Farbe auf den Nadeln abreiben. Dies ist kein großes Problem, da es direkt von den Nadeln abwaschen wird, wenn es Sie stört.
